The uniform is unique and boys should treat it with great respect because of its history and associated traditions.The uniform is to be worn as a "whole" and not mixed and matched with other types of clothing including alternate shoes, shirts or jumpers.
The uniform is worn throughout the year ( there is no Summer or Winter uniform) and commonly referred to as Number 1 Uniform and Half Blues.
1. Number 1 uniform ( worn on the first day of term, Headmasters assembly and other days specified within each term) consists of:
- Uniform Grey Coat, white shirt, black tie and always with navy uniform pant with black belt, black socks and black lace up leather shoes. A navy jumper is also worn in term 2 and 3 and on cooler days.
2. Half Blues ( worn on every other day) consists of:
- Blue shirt ,navy uniform pant with black belt, black socks and black lace up leather shoes.. A navy jumper is also worn in term 2 and 3 and on cooler days.
The Uniform Grey Coat is to be worn every day in term 2 and 3, and is required to be worn by all students travelling to and from school by public transport or car.
A K cap or bucket hat must be worn at school for sun protection.
Only the King's raincoat can be worn for wet weather gear over the uniform, or a King's umbrella. A prescriptive school bag and sports bag with The King's School Crest must also be used.
3. PE/Sport Uniform.
The PE Uniform consists of:
- Navy crested polo top, navy crested shorts, navy crested track jacket and navy crested track pant. White King's logo socks, or plain white socks are to be worn with white trainers ( preferably).
- In addition each sport has a prescriptive sport uniform that must be purchased when representing the school. Please purchase the items required for your child's sport and co-curricular activity.
Saturday dress regulations are that when travelling to and from school sport in Summer or Winter, the sport uniform must be worn, and only the school track jacket and pant are to be worn. No other casual attire that does not constitute uniform can be worn.
Colours and Honours Coats
- Students awarded Colours are able to purchase a Stripe Butchers Coat, which then has a special navy pocket attached with the students award embroidered.The Butchers Coat can be worn at any official TKS or GPS events, Saturdays and official sporting occasions.
- Students awarded Honours are able to have a tailor made King's Sky Blue Coat made with a matching pocket embroidered with the students award.The wearing of this coat is the same as the Butchers Coat.
At all times students are required to be neatly groomed with short hair- no hair touching the collar or extending below the top of the eyebrows.
No jewellery is to be worn other than a wristwatch.
